Karen Sherman is a solar developer at Megawatt Photovoltaic Development, Inc. (Megawatt) and a member of the Iowa team. Karen focuses on working with landowners and community stake holders as well as permitting activities. She is an Iowa City native and University of Iowa graduate.

Karen worked in project development in the commercial recreation industry for 15 years seeing large projects from concept through design and construction. Her work on municipal parks and with school districts to facilitate their outdoor recreation and leisure needs allowed her to work on multi-million-dollar projects and provide engaging outdoor spaces for thousands of children and families .

Prior to working in the recreation field Karen worked in a major Iowa City law firm for several years before becoming a commercial real estate executive. Her combination of experience in law and real estate along with project development and management led her to Megawatt where she could embrace her passion for sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint

Megawatt

Megawatt develops small utility-scale photovoltaic plants. We are developing our own portfolio of projects and providing PV solar project development and management services to our clients. Megawatt advocates creative use of underutilized land through development of PV solar energy. Megawatt secures land, negotiates power purchase agreements, oversees permitting and reclassification of land, directs engineering studies, designs PV solar plants , and tenders and manages EPC contracts.
